Note: that I did not configure the switch using the console port but instead with a VTY line (Virtual Terminal - Telnet). I have only had brief encounters with "managing" switches previously and have never attempted to implement one into my home network. I stumbled upon an old Cisco switch my brother provided me a while back and I figured I'd boot it up and try to configure it using command-line-interface (CLI).
